In that year, the Golden State’s wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon reds, soundly trounced the best of France in an international competition (known as the Judgment of Paris) and the rest is history. Today, California is the fourth-largest wine producer in the world, offering remarkable diversity and something for every taste— though, to this day, wine lovers still favour that big, juicy, structured Cali Cab style. We just can’t get enough.
