LCBO Food & Drink Autumn 2026

FLIGHT PLANS

Roasted and Toasted Malts Roasted malt goes through the same process as some other beloved flavours, like chocolate and coffee. Toasty heat and the process of caramelization create the kind of deep notes that bring warmth and comfort to autumn nights. This flight ranges from caramel to nearly burnt, turning up the heat and the flavour along the way. These flavours will work with the crisp edge of puff pastry and the concentrated sweetness of caramilized onions in our French Onion Slab Pie.

FRENCH ONION SLAB PIE P. 94

Walkerville Rob Roy Scotch Ale LCBO 628883, 473 mL, $3.95 This is a historical beer style defined by its malt toffee sweetness, rich caramel body and increased alcohol, descending to a dry, roasty finish.

Forked River Full City Coffee Porter LCBO 544924, 473 mL, $3.75 Custom-roasted coffee is used to help this porter develop a hazelnut-mocha character, above a malt backbone that can nearly stand a teaspoon upright!

Highlander Smoked Porter LCBO 49629, 473 mL, $3.60

This porter showcases smoked and roasted malts for deeply caramelized and nutty tones, providing a full body and creamy texture to balance the pie.

To taste beer properly, each tasting-flight pour should be 3 to 4 oz of beer. One 473-mL can will serve four tasters. An ideal flight contains no more than 12 oz per person.
