LCBO Food & Drink Autumn 2015

The figures are unofficial, but we think most Ontarians rate autumn as their favourite season of all. Fine weather often lingers on into an Indian Summer. In the woods and forests, green gives way to scarlet, gold, russet brown and all the colours in between. Our stores and markets are bursting with spectacular local produce. It’s a glorious time to celebrate and we have a couple of splendid feasts to help inspire your fall entertaining. Our first is a rustic barn dinner with down-home recipes rooted in local, seasonal produce. Our second is just the spread you need for a grown-up Halloween gathering— nothing scary, everything delicious.     We also put the focus squarely on Ontario, starting with a very thorough look at Prince EdwardCounty and all the delectable things to eat and drink in that most charming region, with extra info on places to stay and visit and irresistible things to do while you’re there. In case Niagara should feel neglected we take a close look at one of the area’smost cherished assets, Riesling. It’s a grape we have made our own, a star performer whatever the weather, including an Indian Summer (thank you, Cave Spring, for your Indian Summer Riesling Icewine) every year. Autumn is a treasure trove in this part of the world. Enjoy! AUTUMN
