WITH HALLOWEEN FALLING ON A SATURDAY THIS YEAR, MAKE THE MOST OF THE OCCASION, CHARMING YOUR GUESTS WITH SPOOKY DÉCOR AND AN ENCHANTING PARTY SUPPER.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT HALLOWEEN that keeps us fascinated well beyond the trick-or-treating years? Regardless of the reason, the fact that Halloween falls on a Saturday night this year makes it a perfect opportunity for a festive adult dinner party. Set the scene with décor inspired by black-and-white horror movies and the Gothic feel of the Deep South. Our menu takes a nod in that direction as well, focusing on food that’s a little bit Southern and naturally unusual-
looking. A garnish of pickled beets give oysters an appropriately ghoulishhue. Dates stuffedwith chorizo and wrapped in bacon are an unexpected flavour bomb. Black spaghetti plays against spicy shrimp and greens for real visual pop. And caramelized banana tarts are a decadent and surprising finish. Sending the revellers home with a bag of the best roasted pumpkin seeds they’ve ever tasted ensures a sweet and spicy end to the night. Trick or treat!
