LCBO Food & Drink Autumn 2017

We love autumn in Ontario! All the hard work farmers and growers put in over the spring and summer pays rich dividends with the harvest of fabulous local produce and a new vintage reaching perfection in the vineyards. It has always been a time for celebration, and in one of our features Elizabeth Baird looks back at the way Canadians rewarded themselves with hearty and delicious desserts. Grape pickers also earn a feast when the vintage is all gathered in, and Lucy Waverman takes that as her inspiration for a generous family-style menu.     Staying in wine country, we visit three of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s best restaurants and find out what the sous-chefs there are cooking for the staff meal—recipes that work equally well at home. And we pay tribute to the bounty of our province by honouring the season’s vegetables, first with an inspired all-vegetable dinner menu and then in a delicious exploration of the cabbage family, featuring fresh takes on classic recipes. So here’s to the fall and all the riches it brings to our table! AUTUMN
