From kayaking on ancient, Amazon- like rivers to sipping a tipple in a 19th century barn-turned-taproom with its own hopyard, Ontario has it all when it comes to sum- mer road-tripping. As certified cicerones and beer writers, the two of us have traversed North America in pursuit of beer, food and fun to share with readers, but when it comes to our own vacations we keep booking in Ontario. Why? Our province is huge—it’s bigger than France and Spain combined—so it’s got all the landscapes: coniferous forests and rocky shores in the north, boun- tiful farmlands in the east, sandy beaches and marine biospheres in the south. Plus, travelling locally is also way better for the planet than hopping on an airplane. For this issue, we’ve chosen four stunning regions and hunted down new and noteworthy culinary experiences, the best soft-serve, and outdoor trails to hit in each. And let’s not forget about the beer! Each region has craft breweries and cideries so small that you can only find many of their small-batch bevvies in their own taprooms. We know you can’t get to visit them all, so we’ve listed some of these places’ finest brews that you can pick up in LCBO stores to crack open on your own patio. Who says you can’t have it all?
