LCBO Food and Drink Holiday 2015

SPIRITS  BARTENDER IN A BOTTLE

Host Gift

For the next seasonal shindig you attend, bring Christmas with you in the form of a homemade batch of mulled wine. Premake your favourite recipe (visit foodanddrink.ca/holiday2015recipes for our pick) and bottle it in advance. It’s a festive alternative to the standard bottle of wine! Once you arrive at the party, all the host will have to do is heat and serve; the drink’s citrus and spices will make their house smell like the holidays. Have several parties to attend during the season? Pre- pare a few jugs in advance.

PACKAGING

➤ Half-gallon glass jugs allow you to bring enough to the party for every- one to enjoy. See Source Resource on page 254 for where to buy. ➤ Once you’ve filled your jug, dress it with an artful ornament of a dried orange slice, cinnamon sticks and a sprig of seasonal greenery, such as boxwood or pine. ➤ Include a gift tag that lists the warming and serving instructions.
