LCBO Food and Drink Holiday 2015

DRINK  SEASONAL

BEST OF 2015 Our resident expert’s look back over the year for all manner of products that stood out for their greatness—keepers, all. BY JAMES CHATTO  •  PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARK OLSON How many different wines does someone in my line of work taste in a year? Hun- dreds and hundreds, to be sure—all in quest of first-rate food-and-wine matches. The best of these little taste epiphanies tend to stick in the mind, especially when my wife and I recreate them at home for friends, but every issue of Food & Drink brings new challenges and there’s only so much room on memory’s disc. So it was a treat to look back over the last year’s issues and choose my favourites from all the wines I tasted. It was tough to pick only 12, but a good exercise in ruthlessness. And because rules are made to be broken, I have also included a wine that deserved to be in our pages but ended up on the cutting room floor—the Lagaria Chardonnay. If you missed these wines the first time around, I hope you enjoy them now.
