GETTING HOLIDAY-READY can be hard work, what with decorating your house, wrapping gifts and cooking up a feast for family and friends. But beer should be easy. That’s why we’ve designed simple and festive garnishes to adorn your beers for seasonal soirees—from a sprig of rosemary to highlight the pine resin aromas of an IPA to a rim of pink sea salt and white peppercorn on a spicy saison. These easy garnishes not only look great, they also add an extra punch of flavour to your brew.
Englis -Styl B l GARNISHED WITH MARASCHINO CHERRY & FRUIT CAKE Dense fruit cake and cherries accentuate the jammy notes of an English Brown Ale’s yeast. Enhance the plummy, raisin flavours of Wellington’s County Brown Ale ( LCBO 65011, 473 mL, $3.10) with a square of fruit cake and a maraschino cherry on a skewer. Not a fan of Christmas cake? Gooey choco- late walnut brownies play nicely with the nutty, toasty notes of Black Oak’s Nut Brown Ale ( LCBO 422121, 473 mL, $3.10) and enhance its dry, co ee finish. Skewer a square of dense, chocolate brownie and a candied orange peel over a snifter of toasty brown ale and you’ve got dessert covered.
