Cîroc, the smooth, weighty vodka distilled from grapes in the South of France, is renowned for the authenticity of its flavoured versions. Black Raspberry (available in December) is the latest—a colourless spirit that tastes very like a dry version of Chambord liqueur. A useful new tool for the home mixologist!

Based in Colombia, the Riascos fam- ily sources young rums from all over the Caribbean then blends them in a solera system of ex-bourbon barrels for a maximum of 21 years. The result is a fabulous amber rum, a rich, dryish complexity of dark chocolate, co ee bean, orange zest, cinnamon, plums, peppercorns and more.
