LCBO Food & Drink Holiday 2019

Enlisting friends to help trim a tree or string lights outside will be no problem once they hear that this tempting meal—perfect for eating alfresco—is the reward.

Under the twinkly lights you’ve just hung, keep the party outside with a gathering around a fondue pot. Or, if it’s just too cold, head inside to warm up. Inside or out, the great thing about a fondue party is that it’s a fun way to dine communally, and once your prep work is done, your work is basically done. Then it’s up to everyone at the table to dunk and swirl to their hearts’ content.     Indoors, your safest bet is to serve the fondue in a dedicated ceramic fondue pot (these pots are usually sold as kits complete with fondue forks and Sterno chafing fuel).     But if you’re holding the occasion outside, the cheese fondue can be prepared in a Dutch oven, a deep cast iron pan or a medium camping pot over a low flame. Tell your guests to bundle up—and have extra blankets on hand.     Or stay snug until later, then head outside for dessert and campfire coffee to cap off the evening in a truly warming way.
