LCBO Food & Drink Holiday 2024
DOUBLE DUTY
SALTED PORT CARAMEL P. 192
A Splash and a Dash of Port Aromas of ripe blackcurrant and cherry mingle with hints of spice in typically luscious late-bottled vintage (LBV) ports. Think of them as an accessible middle ground between young, sweet and fruit-forward ruby port and more mature caramel, dried fruit and nut-tinged tawny port. Aged for 4 to 6 years, they’re velvety smooth and lovely to drink at room tem perature or chilled slightly to lessen the sweetness. While the other styles of port will also work in these recipes, LBV bottlings offer incredible value as special holiday tipples and bring just the right balance of sweetness and fruit.
