Ginger

Ginger is a wonderful ingredient in cooking and cocktails, and its unique, pungent spiciness is extremely versatile. Whether fresh, steeped or pickled, it is always a refreshing addition to your cocktail lineup.

Nice rich orange notes round out the spicy ginger. The garnish is our favourite part of the cocktail; try stirring it into the drink and then biting off small pieces as you sip. The sweet and hot combination is exhilarating.

Bourbon and ginger are a natural fit. You can mince ginger and add it to Simple Syrup (recipe on page 110), but a quicker and more efficient way to bring them together is to juice the gin- ger and then add it to the cocktail. The taste is more prevalent, and it’s ready to go right away!

THE MIKADO COCKTAIL recipe on page 110 This Martini cocktail marries the intensity of sweet and spicy pickled ginger with bold yuzu, for mouth-tingling results.
