LCBO Food & Drink Summer 2025

BEER

Lager Heads The beer industry is always innovating—but sometimes there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. It’s taken some time for good old lager to come back into style, but these brews— many of them Ontario craft versions—are fantastic with iconic summer grills, salads and more.

a huge amount of sense to opt for lagers that are

light-tasting, crisp and easy to share with friends. These accessible American lager– style options will appeal to everyone from your softball teammates to your next-door neighbour. Swooping majestically onto shelves, Blood Brothers Mighty Lager (LCBO 37763, 473 mL, $3.75) is light as a feather, fresh as the air and cold as a mountain stream. Dry body and minimal bitterness make it universally appealing. Heineken Silver (LCBO 37302, 6 pk, $17.50) is a low-carbohydrate take on the Dutch classic, but even at 90 calories a bottle, it retains the lightly fruity aroma of the original. It’s a characterful light beer that doesn’t disappoint. Town Brewery Quick One Lager (LCBO 31586, 473 mL, $3.55) is a throwback brew that uses specialty German malts to create a light, crackery body with a crisp finish and clean bitterness, for a refined take on the style. With a label straight out of the 1970s, Bellwoods Brewery Ultra (LCBO 38912, 473 mL, $3.50) is made for the craft beer cognoscenti. While the body is crisp, the citrusy bitterness makes it more compelling than your average light beer.
