LCBO Food & Drink Summer 2025
Attention-Seekers
Attention-grabbing designs may just make austere wine labels with black script on a white back ground—or an elegant drawing of a French château—a thing of the past. The label tells us everything we need to know about Our Story Pinot Grigio VQA (LCBO 25653, $15.95), a crisp, 100 per cent Ontario wine that’s meant to be shared, just like our stories. The wonky illustration on the label of Zonte’s Footstep Chocolate Factory Shiraz (VINTAGES ESSENTIALS 396481, $19.95) shows how a picture is worth a thousand wine descriptors that might have been used for this rich, decadent and chocolatey wine. Not only is the cheeky plastic bottle of French Pool Toy Rosé (LCBO 42858, $14.95) light and eco-friendly, it’s also unbreakable, making this the perfect pink wine for pool parties and other outdoor gatherings. You had us at “poutine,” Greasy Fingers! This light and fresh Sauvignon Blanc (LCBO 40380, $17.00) cuts through the richness of Canada’s much-loved signature dish, a drawing of which graces the label.
DID YOU KNOW? Michel Chapoutier learned that his visually impaired musician friend Gilbert Montagné couldn’t go wine shopping alone because he couldn’t read the labels, so by 1996, every Maison M. Chapoutier label had a braille translation, including Chapoutier Belleruche Côtes-du-Rhône White AOC (LCBO 245340, $18.00).
