Good cakes come in small sizes, as these tantalizing desserts demonstrate—designed for two Valentines to share.

VALENTINE’S DAY, whether we like it or not, evokes images of hearts, decadent choco lates and bouquets of flowers. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but why not share some more unusual and unexpected treats with your sweetheart or significant other—or with anyone you love, for that matter. The fol lowing cakes can be enjoyed by a romantic twosome, with plenty of leftovers to share with family and friends.     On these pages you’ll find an array of cakes with varying tastes and textures. Small

Banana Cream Cakes are reminiscent of a classic cream pie, while an Orange and Vanilla Ice Cream Cake borrows its flavour combination from the classic Creamsicle. A Passion-Fruit Layer Cake that carries a taste of the tropics, and an edible flower me ringue that accompanies Strawberry Swirl Angel Food Cakes, provide a nod to the more traditional romance of the day. Natu rally, all these cakes need not be reserved for February 14. Make them any time of year and you will feel the love.
