Accents of dried flowers and purple iris add aromatic complexity. The palate shows smooth tannins and juicy acidity, with layered flavours that build gracefully. More concentrated and generous than the cooler 2019 expression, it offers perfect length and a supple, structured finish. Drinking window: 2025-2034. VQA St. David’s Bench, Niagara-on-the-Lake The grapes are from the Lingard Vineyard on the St. David’s Bench that was planted in 2006 to the 21b Clone. Fermentation was stopped to leave a bit of residual sugar (8 g/l) to balance the crisp acidity. A classic Niagara Riesling nose of lime, grapefruit, floral lift, lanolin and white peach. It’s nicely balanced on the palate with lip-smacking citrus, summer peaches, ginger, honeycomb and yellow apple with a zippy, lifted finish. Can cellar through 2031. Score: 90 (Rick VanSickle, wines inniagara.com, July 21, 2025) Aromatic & Flavourful 41257 (XD) 750 ml $22.00 2 Made from later picked (but not forgotten in the end) grapes this is a very elegant, cushy chardonnay that has real poise and some sophistication. It is very much in Malivoire’s calm, cool and collected style. Expect ripe peach pie fruit effortlessly integrated with wood spice, sourdough crust. Acid is even, alcohol just a bit warm (13.5%). Flavours stay very well focused and run to excellent to outstanding length. Tasted May 2025. Score: 93 (David Lawrason, winealign.com) Full-bodied & Rich 48250 (XD) 750 ml $36.95 2 VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment Simple, juicy, lactic, leesy, yogurty and free. Welcome to Canadian chardonnay as Chablis done with nothing but easy drinking and freedom in mind. Treads that fine line between clean and leesy but yes, this goes properly and adroitly for the wine. Drink date: 2025-2029. Tasted blind at NWACs, June 2025.
