THE NEW RELEASE COLLECTION
ITALY – RED WINE CONT’D VENETO FARINA VALPOLICELLA RIPASSO CLASSICO SUPERIORE 2022 DOC Ripasso revives young Valpolicella wine on Amarone pomace, concentrating colour, texture and depth. Farina’s take bursts with black plum, dried raspberry and a hint of anise over a gentle pepper lift. Its supple weight and lively acidity shine beside hearty stews or turkey burgers. Drink: 2025-2027. Score: 90 (nataliemaclean.com, June 21, 2025) Medium-bodied & Fruity 999946 (D) 750 ml $19.95 2 Native to the region of Veneto, the Oseleta grape was reintroduced to winemaking in 1990, five years after Masi had planted the low-yielding variety that was long believed to be extinct. Blended with Corvina and Rondinella, this red shows a heavier character than its typical Valpolicella counterparts, with a deep red colour, well-integrated tannins, and an emphasis on savoury flavours like smoked meat and cocoa. Medium-bodied & Fruity 342444 (XD) 750 ml $24.95 2 PIEROPAN VIGNA GARZON RISERVA AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA 2018 DOCG Four years of aging in 90% tonneaux and 10% barriques, with an additional year in bottle before release. The oak is smart, serving to compress the sweet cherry fruit while lending an accent of savoriness. Finely wrought tannins that are still etched with wood but refined. This will find its place with patience. Cooler sourcing from the eastern zone of Ilasi, a limestone-dominant terroir that is increasingly becoming a great source for fresh reds. Drinkable now, but best from 2028. Score: 95 (Ned Goodwin, MW, jamessuckling.com, April 15, 2024) Full-bodied & Smooth 16087 (XD) 750 ml $79.95 2 Online & Flagship Exclusive MASI TOAR VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO SUPERIORE 2022 DOC
SANTA MARIA VALPOLICELLA RIPASSO CLASSICO SUPERIORE 2021 DOC
Darkly floral, the 2021 Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore opens with a beguiling blend of spiced blood orange, sour cherries and cloves. It is silken in feel with a tinge of citrus that adds gravitas as a saturation of ripe wild berry fruits settles in. Gently tannic and long, the 2021 leaves a pleasantly chewy sensation and slight bitter twang that calls the taster back to the glass for more. Drinking window: 2026-2031. Score: 92 (Eric Guido, vinous.com, Sept. 25, 2025) Full-bodied & Smooth 47033 (XD) 750 ml $23.95 3
