A refined Chianti Classico with firm, racy tannins that give length and beauty to this. Black cherries, blueberries, crushed stones and raspberries on the center palate. A small crop, so they blended all their top Chianti Classicos. Score: 95 (jamessuckling.com, July 23, 2025)

The nose is savory and spicy, with aromas of wild oregano, thyme, sour cherry, sun-dried tomato and pepper, while the palate turns sunny and warm with raspberries and pomegranate, as more herbs and a salty earthiness provide balance. The organic Col d’Orcia 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Olmaia is a rich, muscular and concentrated red. It offers soft fruit with no greenness, but it almost behaves like a Sangiovese with dark plum and blackberry. There is a ferrous note of rusty nail, and the wine concludes with velvety tannins and a medium-rich mouthfeel. I get a hint of smoked tobacco as well. The nose is herbaceous and saline, with aromas of sage, bay leaf, wild mint, wild fennel, blood orange peel and saltwater running over rocks. The palate is super citrus and still salty, but laden with dark berries and soil, making for a wine that is tangy, bright and refreshing even as it’s anchored in deeper earth tones.
