CANADA WHITE WINE CONT’D ONTARIO KACABA RESERVE RIESLING 2023 6 VQA Niagara Lakeshore, Niagara-on-the-Lake, vegan ... The grapes for this wine receive extra hang time, harvested at the beginning of November, to enhance flavour concentration. Lemon-lime and honey overlay pear and candy-apple notes. A vivaciously mineral core expands to all edges of the palate with bursts of ripe acidity zapping a high tempo pulse of brilliance in every sip. BACHELDER LES VILLAGES BENCH PINOT NOIR 2023 6 VQA Niagara Escarpment ... an expressive introduction to the nuance of Niagara Escarpment Pinot Noir ... aromas of bright morello cherries, tart cranberries, and a subtle flinty edge that hints at the area’s limestone-rich soils. Smooth tannins frame flavours of rhubarb, sour cherries, and wild raspberries. A saline thread runs through, giving the wine energy and length alongside fresh acidity. CLOUDSLEY TWENTY MILE BENCH PINOT NOIR 2021 6 VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment Earthy and savoury in nature, this single-vineyard Pinot from Cloudsley opens with hints of purple iris, ripe raspberries and fresh rosemary. The palate is layered with wild blueberries and red currants, framed by fine tannins that offer structure and poise based in minerality. The 2023 vintage in Niagara was beautiful, warm and sunny throughout, but with very small yields. As a result, wines are very concentrated with great acidity. This elegant Chardonnay was vinified in concrete with ambient yeast and aged on the lees for nine months.
