In this part of Colchagua, red fruit predominates over the menthol or eucalyptus of its more famous Maipo relatives. Here, you notice the deliciously generous fruit, herbal notes, tense texture, angular tannins, and vibrant acidity. A cabernet full of a sense of place. DEEP WOODS EBONY MARGARET RIVER CABERNET/SHIRAZ Margaret River, Western Australia With a generous swirl, aromas of blackcurrants and lead pencil shavings emerge. The plush core of fruit is a lovely mix of red and black berries. Inky tannins on the finish temper the bold core. It’s quite defying that you can gain so much pleasure at this price point. ... the nose is redolent of blackcurrants, cošee grinds, aniseed, sage, tobacco leaves, a touch of chocolate and evidence of a little graphite. There is good focus here, impressive length and very fine tannins. The chocolate and graphite is accentuated on the palate.
