Whites that refresh and delight TOI TOI SAUVIGNON BLANC 2024 Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand, sustainable 454785 (XD) 750 mL $19.95 1 This is instantly appealing on the nose, showing green rockmelon, feijoa, crunchy apple and lemon zest aromas. The palate delivers terrific fruit power and persistency, splendidly supported by juicy acidity, finishing long and delicious. At its best: now to 2027. Score: 93 (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, Aug. 2024) TORNATORE ETNA BIANCO 2024 DOC, Sicily, Italy 577676 (XD) 750 mL $24.95 2 Tornatore is one of the larger wineries among dozens on the north slope of Mt. Etna. Made from the local carricante grape, this is a hefty yet streamlined white with a complex and well integrated nose of almost tropical guava and olive overlaid with the flinty/smoky aromas of Etna’s volcanic soils. Almost peppery as well. It is a full bodied fairly dense and serious white with girth and length. Really solid and well balanced with excellent length. Tasted March 2024.
