TAWSE SKETCHES RIESLING 2022 6 VQA Niagara Peninsula Clean, crisp, and classic, the Sketches riesling offers flavours of ripe peaches, apples, and apricots, alongside a faint, shower curtain-adjacent aroma. There is sweetness here for sure, but it is balanced by tart acidity. I would drink this riesling over the next couple of years, perhaps paired with sweet and spicy sauces, something along the lines of Thai, Laotian, and Indian curries. Tasted June 2024. REIF ESTATE DREA’S SAUVIGNON BLANC 2023 6 VQA Niagara Peninsula, sustainable

This wild fermented Riesling from the oldest vines planted in 1980 at the Butlers’ Grant Vineyard is aged on its lees for six months and undergoes 100% malolactic fermentation. It’s finished at 7 g/L of RS and 9.5% abv. This is a personable and minerally laced Riesling that shows a nose of lemon-lime, white peach, apricot, floral notes, saline and trade- mark ginger notes. There’s subtle flintiness on the palate with lovely texture, ripe orchard fruits, zingy citrus, that trademark ginger note, a touch of honey and mouth-watering acidity through a lifted, fresh finish. This wine is Andrea “Drea” Kaiser’s tribute to her father, Karl J. Kaiser. It’s sourced from Watson Farms, which was first planted in 1982 and is home to some of Canada’s oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines. This ripe, mouth-watering, dynamic wine has bold tropical fruit, citrus and mineral notes. Pair it with artichoke salad or sushi. SNAP VIDAL M 6 VQA Ontario This is a new wine from a new project by Dan Rabinovitch and winemaker Marco Piccoli. It’s crafted to showcase Vidal’s sweet side, with the juice seeing some skin contact to create an orange hue. Expect a light, floral, crisp wine with apple and citrus tones.
