Kacaba Vineyards was founded in 1997 by Michael Kacaba, a Toronto Bay Steet lawyer of Ukrainian descent from a Saskatchewan background. Kacaba is focused on producing premium-quality small-batch wines of authenticity that emphasize fruit, finesse and affordability. The Kacaba Vineyard includes one of Ontario’s first significant plantings of Syrah. “When Ukraine’s third president, Viktor Yushchenko, visited Ontario in 2005, Kacaba Vineyards had the honour of hosting him. He showed a keen interest in what Ontario’s wine industry had accomplished in a short time and no doubt shared those insights as Ukraine’s own industry evolved,” says Michael Kacaba, owner of Kacaba Vineyards.
