URBANIHOF CLASSIC GRÜNER VELTLINER 2024 DAC Wagram (Familie Paschinger)
Stylish and enticing, the wine shows perfumed aromas of dark cherry, plum, thyme and hazelnut with a floral overtone. It’s beautifully weighted on the palate with refined texture and plush mouth feel, finishing persistent and polished. The wine combined stunning fruit purity with seductive complexity, making it engaging and highly appealing. At its best: now to 2032. Score: 95 (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, Aug. 2023)
Light yellow-green, silver reflections. Delicate notes of spices, yellow apple fruit, some orange peel, typical varietal bouquet. IVAN DOLAC PLAVAC MALI 2021 Dalmatian Coast (Badel 1862 d.d.)
A wine that is improving with every passing vintage, thanks to earlier picking and a lighter hand with the new oak. Spicy, meaty and herbal, it combines aromas of sage, tarragon and white pepper with a sappy, tangy plum, tapenade and stony palate. Drink date: 2024§2029. Score: 93 (Tim Atkin, MW, timatkin.com, South Africa Special Report 2023 ) Full-bodied & Smooth 48604 (XD) 750 ml $19.95 2
Plavac Mali is the most important red grape planted along the Dalmatian Coast. It’s related to Zinfandel but is typically a bolder, more robust wine. This one was aged in stainless steel for five years, ensuring the purity of fruit expression. Elegant and smooth, it has the structure and depth for grilled meats, lamb, or herb-infused roasted vegetables. Full-bodied & Firm 39758 (XD) 750 ml $41.95 2 FRANCE WHITE WINE ALSACE BARON DE HOEN RÉSERVE PINOT GRIS 2024 AOC Alsace Sourced from soils rich in marl, clay and limestone, this Pinot Gris deftly showcases the bolder, weightier character that distinguishes the Alsace style from its Italian counterpart. It’s balanced, fresh and honeyed, with finely defined fruit. Just snuggling up to off-dry. [Concours Général Paris did not include a tasting note.] Score: Gold (Concours Général Paris, 2025) Aromatic & Flavourful 461657 (D) 750 ml $18.95 2 Featured in Hop To It
GLENELLY GLASS COLLECTION CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2021 WO Stellenbosch
... There is a small proportion of bought-in fruit for this cuvée. It aged 12 months in 300-liter French oak barrels, 15% new. It has quite an opulent bouquet delivering blackberry, boysenberry and cassis fruit, well-defined, with just a touch of graphite in the background. The medium-bodied palate has pliant tannins and a subtle peppery/ graphite note on the entry. It’s focused, with the most complexity on the finish compared to other cuvées in the Glass Collection. This should age well in bottle. Excellent. Drinking window: 2026 2045. Score: 91 (Neal Martin, vinous.com, Nov. 2, 2023) Full-bodied & Firm 13316 (XD) 750 ml $18.95 2 Featured in Hop To It
