Matured in concrete vats, this very attractive and quite elegant Chénas shows gorgeous, layered flavours that feature red cherries, plums, and berries, with nuanced top notes of spice. The acid is perfectly calibrated to the fruit, giving the texture freshness, lightness, and a touch of juiciness. This is a perfectly lovely wine that will bring out the best in food. This has cedary character, showing ground spices and walnuts with ripe red and dark fruits in the background. Medium-bodied, it has a juicy, crunchy palate as well as firm tannin structure. BURGUNDY CHANSON BOURGOGNE PINOT NOIR 2023 AOC (Chanson Père & Fils)

CHÂTEAU FONTIS CRU BOURGEOIS MÉDOC 2020 AOC (Vincent Boivert, prop.-récolt.) Aromas of ripe dark fruit with hints of spice box, crushed walnuts and wet earth. Sleek and polished on the palate with a medium body and fine, medium chewy tannins. Attractive fruit character and a firm finish with hints of spiced cedar. Try after 2024. Chanson is a historic house whose cellars occupy the battlements in the Roman wall that rings the old centre of Beaune. This is a generous, tidy and juicy young Bourgogne pinot noir with nicely lifted, classic scents of cran-cherry fruit, rose and well tucked oak spice and vanilla. It is a bit tart and tight, but sports great energy and intensity, especially at [just over] $30 which is about as low a price as you will find from Burgundy these days.
