MURIEL RESERVA 2020 Vino de Elciego, DOCa Rioja

The 2020 Muriel Reserva is a Tempranillo from Elciego in Rioja. Garnet in hue, it offers the classic character of the area, with aromas of cherry, dried flowers, herbs and a backdrop of oaky flavors such as vanilla and caramel. Slim on the palate, with a firm grip and a chalky texture, it’s very much a traditional Rioja wine. Recently bottled, this promises to evolve well. Drinking window: 2025 2040. PUELLES RESERVA 2016 DOCa Rioja This bend of 94% tempranillo and 6% other Spanish varieties, all from old vines, was matured in oak for a total of 24 months. It delivers a very attractive and well-layered flavour profile dominated by dark fruit and some spiciness, all complemented by well-balanced acidity. A dozen years since vintage, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has matured gracefully and is showing beautifully.
