PIGHIN PINOT GRIGIO 2024 DOC Friuli Grave
A bright, fresh, fruity wine, with well-defined ripe apple, pear, melon, tropical banana and citrus notes alongside a honeyed character and lifted florals. Very pretty. Quite luscious and surprisingly weighty, with zippy acidity that makes it a wonderful sipper and also fabulously versatile with food. Light & Crisp 987545 (XD) 750 ml $22.95 1
Friuli Perched in the mountains of Italy’s furthest northeastern reaches, Friuli borders Austria to the north and Slovenia to the east, and the region’s culture reflects a confluence of Italian, Germanic and Slavic influences. Its wine scene is perhaps even more diverse, with over half of the region’s wines made from international grape varieties. Friuli is particularly known for crisp, racy wines made from Pinot Grigio, while Merlot plays a major role in its red wines.
Food pairings WHITE WINES Frico (fried patty of Montasio cheese and potato) served with polenta RED WINES Blecs al ragù di cervo (flat pasta with simmered venison sauce)
