MAJELLA CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2021 Coonawarra, South Australia Black raspberry, red cherry and pomegranate. Burdock root, crushed cumin and pulled paperbark stripped from the tree. Nutmeg and cinnamon. Fresh bay leaf, oregano and pepperberry. The silkiest of palates with ripe red fruit flowing down the centre, wrapped in cabernet berries that weave in and out. A mocha coffee and carob sweetness with a touch of anise and tobacco pouch. Such a grateful palate – it’s a dream of a vintage, this one. Drink by: 2032. Special Value. This flagship Chardonnay is selected from only the finest barrels. Generous, tight and focused, it offers considerable weight and power that’s well-matched by the balance and elegance it demonstrates. Filled with complex, layered notes of lychee, lime, vanilla and hazelnut, it will drink into the mid-2030s. In fact, a little more refined all round. There’s blackberry, black cherry, plum fruits and eastern spices to the fore, with a strong sense of sweetness nicely countered to the wine’s earthiness. Fills the mouth but is well structured and, overall, elegant, thanks in part to the smooth, fine-knit tannins. Everything is in its place. Runs long and is so, so good for the price.
