THE NEW RELEASE COLLECTION
ARGENTINA RED WINE CONT’D
MONTES ALPHA SPECIAL CUVÉE PINOT NOIR DO Zapallar, Aconcagua Costa
FINCA FERRER COLECCIÓN BLOCK A MALBEC Gualtallary, Valle de Uco, Mendoza
Montes planted in the cool, fog-drenched hills of Zapallar specifically to chase the kind of Pinot Noir freshness that warmer inland sites simply cannot produce, and the results make a compelling case for this coastal terroir. Warm clove, dried cherry, orange peel, and a lifted violet note rise from the glass before a focused, savoury palate of dark plum and crushed stone carries to a long, food-friendly finish with silky tannins. Drink it now through 2030 with lamb and dried apricot stew, grilled pork chops, or veal Marsala. Score: 95 (nataliemaclean.com, Sept. 26, 2026)
Block A6 is about five hectares, and Ferrer selects from it, about 100 rows of vines for this wine, about 12,000 liters in total. A mountain malbec from limestone soils, with tones of tart red fruits and herbs that speak of the Andean breezes, of the herbs of the mountains in Gualtallary, in the north of the Uco Valley. Firm tannins recall chalk, with intense and firm acidity. One of those malbecs that are textbook definitions of a place. JIP JIP ROCKS SINGLE VINEYARD SHIRAZ Padthaway, South Australia The Jip Jip Rocks Shiraz is always a big hit with Vintages customers, who have long loved its opulent black fruit, plum, vanilla, spice cake, earth, smoke, and finessed acidity. This is always a rich, round Shiraz that’s interesting in all the right ways. Try it with grilled fare. CHILE RED WINE CASAS DEL BOSQUE RESERVA CARMENÈRE
KILIKANOON PRODIGAL GRENACHE Clare Valley, South Australia
Valle del Rapel The 2024 Carménère Collection from Peumo, Cachapoal, aged in American oak. It opens with red pepper, paprika and red fruit notes in a slightly reductive register. Plush and creamy, with a juicy midpalate, the 2024 is an attractive take on the pyrazine style. Drinking window: 2025-2040. Score: 91 (Joaquín Hidalgo, vinous. com, Oct. 14, 2025)
It’s beautifully scented on the nose with dark cherry, wild strawberry, star anise and rich floral aromas. The palate displays wonderfully layered mouthfeel combined with rich texture and finely infused tannins, leading to a splendidly long, satisfying finish. At its best: now to 2034.
