LCBO Food & Drink Holiday 2025

After Dark Winter solstice is the perfect moment to toast the dark arts of stout, porter, ale and other brews that complement ultra-comforting dishes for a cozy night at home.

The winter solstice (December 21) is the shortest day of the year, the day when Ontario is tilted the furthest away from the warm glow of the sun. It can be cold, dark and snowy. However, it also means that the days are about to get longer—something to celebrate! Embrace the darkness by breaking out beers that feature robust, malty character and slightly higher alcohol strength. These are best shared with friends and family, served alongside hearty, savoury dishes to provide warmth and comfort for the longest night of winter.
