LCBO Food and Drink Autumn 2016
Autumn is the time of harvest. All the hard work put in during the spring and summer by Ontario’s farmers—and by Mother Nature— suddenly starts to pay dividends. Everywhere you look across this fecund province you find an abundance of glorious things to eat. And to drink! We’ve brought together the talents of some of our winemakers and artisanal food producers in our feature on local Ontario terroir—with recipes that showcase what they do best. But that’s just the beginning of the party. Check out our version of Oktoberfest for a new take on favourite German recipes matched with Ontario craft beers. As well, that notion of bringing traditional ideas up to date inspires our article on stuffed vegetables—a great way to make the most of this province’s fall bounty! And if you’re planning on paying homage to the harvest with a Thanksgiving dinner, may we suggest some lavish alternatives to the familiar bird? After all that, it’s time to sit back and let the conversation go where it will, perhaps with a little something to sip. Our story on after-dinner digestifs can help out there. Autumn brings so much to Ontario—let’s celebrate! AUTUMN
