LCBO Food & Drink Summer 2019

ONTARIO ROUNDUP

Worth a stop!

Every city has one, and they’re usually the best deals in town—so if you’re near any of these four Ontario towns this summer, be sure check out their great food trucks.

Ontario’s street-food culture has evolved from hot dog and chip trucks to become an active player in local food scenes. Besides convenience, food trucks also give food connoisseurs an international array of food choices, not to mention an inexpensive way to try new things and a way to interact with local chefs. Food trucks give operators a chance to flex their culinary muscles in new ways: they can change the menu at a whim, develop a new brand and test innovative ideas, while keeping start-up capital and overheads lower than for bricks-and-mortar food businesses or restaurants. A kitchen on wheels also lets them do offsite catering and set up shop at new venues. From Steeltown to the Canadian Lakehead, here are four Ontario cities that have caught food-truck fever.
