LCBO Food & Drink Summer 2019
Rosés are perfect for summertime dishes— they’re lighter and more refreshing than heavier red wines, but they still offer all the red and black fruit flavours we love!
Radio Boka Rosé Campo Viejo Tempranillo RosÉ Rioja
Al fresco dining calls for refreshing, easygoing wines that are delicious but don’t demand too much attention. The Radio Boka Rosé ( LCBO 480467, $9.95) from the Castilla region in Spain is just that. Lots of big, juicy strawberry flavour along with bright acidity and a touch of dried herbs make this rosé a lovely pairing for the tortilla. It’s made from the Monastrell grape and doesn’t dominate or overwhelm the delicate nature of the egg. The Campo Viejo rosé ( LCBO 175620, $12.95) on the other hand is made from the Tempranillo grape, which comes from the famous Spanish region of Rioja. This wine has a bit more body, making it well-suited to the cheese plate. You’ll find loads of red and black fruit flavours such as strawberries and blackberries. These are flavours that work wonderfully with the cheese—and the wine’s acidity does a great job of helping to refresh the palate.
