with simple finishing touches like these.

Modernize your devilled eggs by whipping up a batch using Kewpie mayo, then finely grate pickle (that you’ve previously frozen) overtop.

New Must-Grab Wines Whether you’re bringing something for a crowd or just looking for a single-serve option, we’ve got suggestions both big, like Bicycle Thief Pouch Portugal White Wine (LCBO 36842, 1.5L, $17.45), and small, such as Saintly The Good Sparkling Rosé VQA (LCBO 32178, 200 mL, $5.95). Have a friend who’s in the know when it comes to trends? Reach for something a little different, like a sparkling red—hello, Riunite Lambrusco Reggiano 1950 Amabile (LCBO 43952, $14.95)—or even an unusual Prosecco, VOGA Still Prosecco DOC (LCBO 43955, $16.95), which maintains its character, but without the bubbles. Want to experiment with new flavours? Tbilisuri Rkatsiteli, Kakheti (LCBO 39616, $16.00) is made with a lesser-known grape varietal (Rkatsiteli) grown in Georgia. Or experiment matching summery fare like grilled fish or pickled vegetables with a bright sparkling sake like Mio Sparkling Sake (VINTAGES ESSENTIALS 388553, 300 mL, $16.50).

Create a cheeseboard centrepiece by pressing edible flowers to the surface of goat’s cheese or burrata.

Add extra crunch to coleslaw by garnishing with crushed corn nuts.

Crispy Hot Dog Bites Ever tried campfire hot dogs (aka spider dogs) that are sliced, skewered and crisped until they curl in the fire? A Buzzfeed Tasty video inspired us to test the best ways to recreate something reminiscent, but in the comfort of our own homes. For ours, we found using both a sharp knife and Y-shaped peeler to pull or slice hot dog into long, thin strips worked well (try with a classic like Schneiders Juicy Jumbos or Beretta Organic Beef Dogs). Loosely arrange and swirl the slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet then roast in oven preheated to 475°F (246°C) for 6 to 8 minutes for crispy fried results. Or tuck them into an air fryer set to 400°F (204°C) for 5 to 6 minutes. Enjoy by dipping into your favourite condiments—zingy mustard or even classic ketchup make great accompaniments.
