GENTLE FOLK SAUVIGNON BLANC 2023 Adelaide Hills, South Australia
This is barrel fermented with full mlf but still, regard- less, it’s the fruit that shines the brightest ... the intensity of fruit here is right up there, as is the rocket of flavour through the finish, as is the smoky, gravelly, tonic-like character that runs throughout. An essay could be written on the texture of this wine, such is the artistry of its integration ... an elite white wine. Drink from: 2025. Drink by: 2031. Special Value. Score: 96 (Campbell Mattinson, winecompanion.com.au, June 27, 2024) Aromatic & Flavourful 41432 (XD) 750 mL $40.95 2 Online & Flagship Exclusive A big introduction worthy of a drumroll. Tropical fruits explode in passionfruit pulp, melon, peach, nectarine with an ample dose of Gin Gin clone style beach spray. Lively, tasty and so juicy, this well-priced Margaret River Chardonnay is all about easy drinking now ... Open hearted, it delivers an umami texture on the palate with equal parts baked apple, pear and tropical fruits. Finishes a tad short but, hey, there are plenty of positives to enjoy. Drink by: 2024-2026. Fermented in stainless steel, it’s bright, fresh and taut, with pear, peach, citrus, and a dash of honey adding complexity. A focused, precise wine with a fine mineral note emerging on the close. TESIS PRIMUS ORGANIC CARMENÈRE 2022 DO Apalta, Valle de Colchagua, sustainable, vegan (Alto de Casablanca)
This is a blend of very old vines, planted on the level part of the Neyen Vineyard in Apalta, some almost 100 years ago, along with younger vines planted 30 years ago on the hillsides of the same estate. It’s a carmenere that’s very typical of the variety, with notes of herbs, red fruit, and spices, all wrapped in a smooth body, with very elegant tannins ... always with a focus centered on fruity flavors.
