NEW ZEALAND WHITE WINE ASTROLABE SAUVIGNON BLANC 2024 Marlborough, South Island, sustainable A late-bloomer, this opens with lime blossom and citrus leaf before gaining more complexity on the palate. As the fruit expands across the palate, a balancing pithiness comes into play alongside tangy, fresh acidity and even a hint of salinity on the finish. Very well-judged and constructed, with lovely balance of herbaceousness with fruit and savouri ness. Drink date: 2024ž2026. A fine mineral complexity adds depth and style. Lovely weight and creaminess as the wine touches the palate, satin smooth with contrasting acidity and super fine tannin textures. STONELEIGH LATITUDE PINOT NOIR 2023 Marlborough, South Island, sustainable, vegan This Pinot hits all the Marlborough touchpoints, delivering a highly aromatic, flavourful wine with plentiful ripe fruit, but there’s something else here that many immediately engaging, boldly fruity Marlborough Pinots don’t reveal: an almost Burgundian sophistication. It’s a complex, toasty wine, with baking spice and vanilla underlying the cherry fruit. Expressive, balanced and very good. This will drink through the end of the decade.
