GÉRARD BERTRAND LE CHOUCHOU LIGHT RED 2023 France
So pale it could almost be sold as a rosé, this is a perfect end-of-summer red from Gérard Bertrand, something to serve straight from the fridge. Made with an unoaked combination of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault from the Languedoc, but sold as more lowly Vin de France, this is juicy, floral and lip- smackingly fresh, with flavours of pomegranate, raspberry and red cherry, subtle tannins, plenty of acidity and a twist of clove spice. Lots of fun. Drinking window: 2024-2026. Score: 91 (timatkin.com, Aug. 15, 2024) Light-bodied & Fruity 42813 (XD) 750 mL $17.95 1 Featured in Cool French Reds 4 Organic product

“Osé” roughly translates to “daring” and is a nod to this wine’s unconventional style. Made from Grenache, Syrah and Caladoc, it showcases fresh red berries, grenadine, peach, and a touch of mint leaf and is meant to be sipped chilled or even on the rocks. Pairs well with grilled salmon or pizza. Medium-bodied & Fruity 42815 (XD) 750 mL $17.95 1 Featured in Cool French Reds
M. CHAPOUTIER ROUGE CLAIR & FRAIS 2024 France
BURGUNDY BUTTERFIELD PINOT NOIR 2022 AC Bourgogne
This elegant red from French winemaking legend M. Chapoutier is made in a style sometimes called “dark rosé” and is intended to be sipped at a chilly 10 degrees centigrade. In fact, the label itself lights up when the ideal chill is achieved. A blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, it delivers juicy red fruit wrapped in supple tannins. Perfect for charcuterie
Toronto native David Butterfield has been making wine in Beaune under his own label, Butterfield, since the early 2000s. This one comes from clay and limestone soils in the south of Burgundy. Silky and elegant, it evokes wild cherry, blackcurrant, plum and fresh mushroom. Medium-bodied & Fruity 43458 (XD) 750 mL $49.95 2
