ITALY Ÿ RED WINE CONT’D BASILICATA PATERNOSTER SYNTHESI AGLIANICO DEL VULTURE DOC The 2021 Aglianico del Vulture Synthesi punches well above its weight with a classic bouquet of musky currants, sagebrush, crushed ashen stones and lifting hints of pine. Ripe wild berry fruits sweep across the palate with crisp mineral tones and violet inner florals, while zesty acidity maintains fantastic balance. Long and gently tannic, the 2021 leaves a staining of tart raspberry. This represents great value and should age beautifully for many years to come. Drinking window: 2028-2046. FONTODI CHIANTI CLASSICO DOCG

The organic Fontodi 2022 Chianti Classico shows a dark color and a deep, velvety appearance. The bouquet opens to earthy aromas with baked plum, cherry and pressed blue flower. This is quite a rich edition. It’s a little dierent than past releases, but it’s also accessible and opulent. This 100% Sangiovese is fermented in steel and ages in both barrique and botte for 24 months. Drink date: 2025-2032. POGGIO SAN POLO ROSSO DI MONTALCINO DOC, sustainable

A truly rich, luxurious and expressive Rosso, as chic, silken and stylish as they come. Crazy beautiful texture and styled flavours, luxe and seductive. Great fruit obviously but also a winemaker with touch, to turn fruit and acid into something so smooth. This considering 20 percent is subjected to some semi-carbonic maceration and time in amphora. Almost hard to believe the experimental methodology has led to this kind of result. Drink date: 2024-2027. Tasted November 2024. Dark cherries, blackberries, roasted meat and baking spices on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with firm tannins. A bright red with firm, integrated tannins that provide length and focus. It’s medium-bodied with citrus and berry character and excellent length.
