PERE VENTURA PRIMER EXTRA DRY ROSÉ CAVA DO, Spain, traditional method
HENRY OF PELHAM THE DRY RIVER RIESLING 2023 6 VQA Short Hills Bench, Niagara Escarpment, sustainable Henry of Pelham was one of the first wineries to plant Mosel Riesling vines in Ontario. They did so with research and care, which is clearly reflected in the wines they produce. This fine example is crisp, balanced and aromatic, with grapefruit, lemon, peach, tangy lime and a long finish. Sip with glazed
Fresh, zesty and busting with red fruit flavours, this Cava will delight with chocolate or red-fruit-based desserts. Which isn’t to say it won’t work with mains. It’s a colourful addition to any meal, and the touch of residual sugar broadens its pairing options to include spicier foods such as stir-fries. CANADA WHITE WINE ONTARIO FEATHERSTONE CANADIAN OAK CHARDONNAY 2024 6
LUNDY MANOR LUNDY WHITE 2024 6 VQA Niagara Peninsula This Riesling, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer blend starts with a chiselled complexity on the nose that recalls candied lemon, lychee, Mirabelle and apricot. That intriguing scent leads to a luminous and faintly Cabernet-Franc spiced entry. Then suddenly, there’s apricot-lemon -Mirabelle again with a slight cherry-blackcurrant undertow. Close your eyes and you’d think this was a rosé. A little strawberry-rose flourish emerges on the finish, too. This wine gets better with each sip. Score: 92 (Carolyn Evans Hammond, Toronto Star ,
VQA Niagara Peninsula, sustainable, vegan The Canadian oak used to craft this fan favourite is sourced from trees grown along the Grand River in Ontario, and the grapes are hand-picked and fermented using native wild yeasts. Expect complex suggestions of campfire smoke, pine cone, golden russet apple and yellow plum. Savour this wine alongside pork chops and baked beans, or carnitas with smoky cheddar and apple slaw. This bistro-style Riesling-based blend is an aromatic, easy-to-sip delight. It’s lifted and floral, with bright apple, pear, lime and mineral

It was fermented in stainless steel, then the blended juice spent 18 months ageing on the lees in oak. This ageing regimen imparts the depth and complexity that define its distinctive character.
