AUSTRALIA – WHITE WINE
RINGBOLT CHARDONNAY 2023 Wilyabrup, Margaret River,
MONTES ALPHA SPECIAL CUVÉE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2021 DO Valle de Colchagua
Western Australia, sustainable, vegan An appealing chardonnay from this very good vintage. The aromas open with a citrussy butter scotch and quince paste combination. The light bodied palate is loaded with crunchy melon and citrus fruit laced together with a fine juicy acidity and neat use of oak. Has a lively minerality to lift. Ideal drinking in the shorter term [through 2029]. Score: 91 (Ray Jordan, rayjordanwine.com.au, undated) Full-bodied & Rich 45497 (XD) 750 ml $22.95 2 SONS OF EDEN FREYA RIESLING 2024 Eden Valley, South Australia I’ve written before how I like the 2024 Eden Valley rieslings. They are perhaps not as aromatically punchy as the norm but they are stony-pure with that familiar Christmas lily volume just turned down a notch. But that focused line, eh?! The Freya here is a beauty, all velocity and limey precision and I am here for it. A cracker. Drink from: 2024. Drink by: 2036. Special Value. Score: 94 (Dave Brookes, winecompanion.com.au, Dec. 9, 2024) Aromatic & Flavourful 12652 (XD) 750 ml $19.95 2
A slight iodine accent to the dark peppery fruit and a hint of tar and rosemary to the nose. A hint of roasted red capsicums. Spicy and complex, with a linear, medium- to full-bodied palate. Tight, quint- essential and long. Pretty intellectual. Score: 94 (Zekun Shuai, jamessuckling.com, Feb. 9, 2023) Full-bodied & Firm 649160 (XD) 750 ml $24.95 2 Featured in Hand-Picked Gifts
